Family films top R-rated fare in 2004

In an interesting turn of events PG rated films hauled in more cash than R rated films in 2004.
Is this because of the good quality of PG rated films in 2004 or the lack of any "blockbuster" R rated movies? In my opinion, the number of films getting PG-13 ratings have expanded with some directors inserting just enough teen content (usually a few curses) to ensure the coveted PG-13 rating. Lucas has even said that the next Star Wars movie will probably be PG-13.

FYI - We're not dead or stopped podcasting. We've just been so busy (and sick) lately that we haven't seen many (any) movies. Hopefully that will change in the next few weeks.
